Metro Community Health Center Partnership
About Metro Community Health Center
Metro Community Health Center (MCHC), a non-profit organization serving people of all ages and backgrounds, has partnered with Wilkinsburg School District (WSD) to better integrate healthcare services into Wilkinsburg's schools.
The purpose of this partnership is to provide not only basic medical care and preventive services but also to emphasize the link between health and academic success. Integrating health services into the school system helps to reinforce the idea that healthy students perform better academically and can reach their full potential.
Through this collaboration, students, their families, staff and faculty members will have access to a range of medical services including state-mandated screenings, comprehensive health care, and mental health support. This initiative also aims to reduce absenteeism by providing convenient access to healthcare for students.
MCHC's mobile clinic, "Heals on Wheels" (HOWie), makes accessing these services easy. HOWie, a 38-ft RV, features two private fully-equipped exam rooms, a small waiting area, a bathroom, and a wheelchair lift.
Starting in January, HOWie will visit Kelly Primary on the first Thursday of each month and Turner Intermediate on the second Thursday of each month, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
If you or your child would like to receive services from MCHC, you must fill out a Patient Registration Packet. You can either use the one your child brings home, print the one below, or pick up a copy at the administrative building (718 Wallace Ave., Wilkinsburg, PA 15221). Once complete, the pack can be returned to your child's school or the administrative building.
After your Registration Packet is submitted, you will be registered in MCHC's system. However, each time you or your child receives services, a consent form (listed below and found on page 2 of the Patient Registration Packet) must be completed.
For questions about MCHC or the services offered, please reach out to MCHC's Project Manager, Patrick Buehler, at [email protected].
If you would like someone from MCHC to contact you, please fill out the interest form.
