Our Preschool Graduation was memorable. Students and families enjoyed a program where the kids were honored for their growth and learning during the year. The state recently audited our Pre-K Counts Program and received a 100% positive rating. This program is for qualified residents of Wilkinsburg and surrounding boroughs.

We celebrated the retirement of four exceptional staff who will be greatly missed. And Dr. Joe Maluchnik thanked many of our team members for their contributions over the years. Thank you to Board Directors Ed Donovan and Monica Garcia for being part of the celebration and for your continued support.
Mrs. Fortier's 4th graders' have been working hard during Math class. For an end-of-the-year assignment, the students created their own Math Board Games, and students developed the games using the skills and strategies they learned throughout the year. Once their board games are done, the class will play them together and celebrate their hard work.

The American Red Cross visited our six-grade students today to teach them how to be Red Cross Ready! They created lists and kits to prepare for emergency situations.
Brianna Haut, a senior scheduled to graduate high school on Friday, May 26th, returned to Kelly Primary School to surprise her Pre-k teachers. Brianna said it was vital for her to return to Kelly Primary to thank Mrs. Tokarsky and Ms. Burkett for their hard work. She has many great memories with these two outstanding teachers and is grateful that she began her learning journey with them. Brianna will attend I.U.P. and study elementary and special education in the fall.
Thank you to the #ByhamTheatre and #ThePittsburghCulturalTrust for their hard work in supporting the debut of our students taking their dramatic roles on a professional stage. The evening was remarkable and memorable, and our students performed fabulously. It has been 17 weeks of hard work and dedication to the arts for our students and teachers. Thank you to our Turner teachers, Clarissa Stewart, Saxon Angerett, and Shawn VanMastrigt, for your hours of hard work to help our students shine!
Mrs. Fligger’s ELA class was tasked with researching an animal of their choice. They compiled all the information they found, wrote thoughtful reports, and shared them with their classmates. They all did a fantastic job!
The Wilkinsburg Class of 1971 generously donated a field trip to the Carnegie Science Center to our “graduating” 6th graders.
The students had a great time exploring the exhibits and learning through play. Giving back to our students is a common theme amongst our alumni, and your donation brought learning and joy to our students. Thank you for keeping your Wilkinsburg home a part of your philanthropic efforts!Mrs. Fligger's 2nd-grade class witnessed some chrysalises open this week! The students were excited to watch their butterflies emerge, stretch out, and dry their wings. What a fantastic experience to see the evolution of the insect in progress!
Mrs. Simon's ELA class visited Mrs. Cole's library today. We learned very cool facts about Honeybees. Mrs. Cole read Honeybee, the Busy Life of Apis Mellifera by Candace Fleming. Honeybees are crucial for fruits, flowers, and vegetables. Honeybees have jobs just like we do! We learned about the Queen bee, Worker bee, and Drone bee. Mrs. Simon's ELA class learned that Mrs. Cole's brother-in-law is a beekeeper. Students were able to taste-test his homegrown honey. It was a great experience! #CandaceFleming
Sixth-grade Science students have been studying heredity and genetics. Recent investigations include constructing DNA models and fingerprinting, and they extracted DNA from strawberries.
